4.25” Mammoth Hunter
4.25” Mammoth Hunter
This is a 4.25” integral hunting knife. This knife was forged from 1095 and 15n20 steels. The pattern is a feathered mosaic that flows through the bolster. The knife has forged distal taper as well as a tapered tang that has been fully etched. The knife has a false clip on one side.
The handle is 4.5” long, making of an overall length around 9”. The scales are ancient mammoth ivory that was been dug from the permafrost. The ivory is 100% natural, the dark green/blue coloring comes from the mineralization that has taken place over the thousands of years it was in the ground. The scales are slightly asymmetric in thickness, this was to preserve as much of the dark coloring as possible. The scales are heirloom fit and attached with domed bronze pins. The domed pins are slightly larger on one side than the other.
This knife comes with a custom made sheath by Elizabeth Every. She is located in Springfield, Missouri and does world class leatherwork. The sheath was made from Hermann Oak veg tan leather and hand stamped with a Celtic design. The inlay is gator. The sheath is 100% hand sewn and made in America. The sheath can be carried on the left or right side, it sits at a 45 degree angle but I would consider it horizontal carry.
