This San mai knife was forged from wrought iron that was sourced from a large piece of wagon wheel with a core of 1.2562. A German tungsten steel with high wear resistance and takes a very keen edge. I’m very happy to be able to offer this as it is very rare in North America(Many thanks to Rocky). The knife has a kasumi polish that was done by me and finished in an Ohira Suita. The handle is dyed/stabilized spalted maple.
Disclaimer: This wrought iron is extremely old and has large silica deposits in the iron which are naturally occurring and sometimes this results in voids in the iron. This is the nature of old wrought iron and part of what gives it its beauty. On the side opposite my stamp half way down the blade is an inclusion that has came open. I do not think it will be an issue but is an inherent quality of the wrought iron.
