245x58 Fossil Walrus
245x58 Fossil Walrus
This is a 245 pattern welded gyuto, the steels used are 1095/15n20. The pattern used for this knife is an intricate feather pattern that is quite bold. This knife has a compound S-grind, which has a hollow along the middle of the blade that aids with food release and helps to lighten the overall blade. The grind on this knife would be my typical of a lighter midweight grind. The handle of this knife is composed of fossil walrus ivory that exhibits dark greens spots, browns, tans, and cream streaking. The fossil walrus ivory is a few thousand years old and dug by the Inuits in Alaska from the permafrost. The coloring of the ivory is due to the minerals leaching into the ivory while in the ground. The handle has been polished to a high sheen and heirloom fit to the blade.
Note: Certain States and countries have regulations around the sales of pre-ban fossil ivory, please check your state/countries laws before purchasing. If you have questions, feel free to email me and we can work it out together. If you live outside of United States, please contact me to discuss possible shipping options due to each countries unique import regulations.
